That's why the lawmakers are not interested in protecting victims

Steve Nunn,  key legislator in United States shot Amanda Ross last Friday after an emergency hearing was held to prevent him from obtaining a gun.  The myth that domestic violence only affects women from lower economic status has just been blown out of the water.  Domestic violence is not isolated to a particular culture or economic status and largely a reason why so many men have invested in groups that seek to undermine even the most flimsy laws that protect women and children.  Its a reason why such groups have in some countries been able to infiltrate the media, have the money and status to push for laws that rob women from the right to be free from violence.  Just like the cigarette companies, they have been a powerful force in killing people.  In this case, there is a target and it is every women and child.  Sometimes the child survives permanently motherless and other times noone survives.  They are those names you might wander pass in your local cemeteries who cannot speak, nor fight for justice as they are forever silenced.  In the media, these tragedies that occur all too often are sometimes sidelined by excuses such as the economy or due to not being able to see the children.  Sometimes it is so obvious that the media cannot sideline this one and thus too quickly it becomes a forgotten lesson when promises to change laws are patched with band aid laws on a gushing wound.

If it occurs in another country, there appears to be this invisible void to the reality of what is happening to our women and children.  Its all too easy to take the blue pill and close our eyes to the possibility that it may one day be our daughter, sister, aunty or mother.  This is how violence against women and children has been thriving, tucked away beneath our consciousness or behind our closed ears if we are unlucky enough to hear her screams.  When it happens, some people like to still carry on with the charade that nothing is occurring.  This is why the "She is lying movement" has become so popular.  We know we shouldn't. Perhaps...could I indulge in that fantasy that it does not exist?  Could that group just hassle the media so I won't have to see these dreadful article...

Then it hits home.

It might be the neighbor or a friends mother...but no, please not my daughter or sister...

This is the everyday ignorance that is an essential element in the killing of women and children.  One must be able to believe the lie that it does not exist or if it does - it has absolutely nothing to do with you.  Violence against women is the blood stain in society that cannot be cleaned off.  It is as important and as real as environmental damage.  Not very far apart when women create life and the earth is life - Both of which are currently drawing a close to extinction.

Its in everyones hands.
